Sassie's Little Rant

An existential anarchist, as an idealist. But living in the real world, I am someone who enjoys enabling those less able to reach their potential. I like to experience life and trying new things and travelling to different places.

On the way home from the beach, we came across two spectacles. One of which I sadly do not have any pictures.  The first was a massive street protest.  After standing around for a while waiting to see what it was all about, we accosted a Spaniard.  He explained that Catalonia wanted independence from Spain.  This protest was to tell the government that they wanted a referendum asking the people of Catalonia.  Thousands of people were marching along the main drag in Barcelona and we had the privilege to witness it.  I returned to the hostel quite moved by what I had seen and hoped that one day the Catalonians would get their wish.

Once changed into our glad rags, off we went in search of the evening’s refreshments and entertainment.  Once more we stumbled on a parade, this time, however, we had no idea what it was about and was entranced by the spectacle now going on in front of us. There were huge statues being carried around and a haphazard band.  Some people came out onto their balcony to see what the commotion was.  This was just the excuse the band needed, instantly they stopped and turned their attention skyward, playing to their captive audience up there on the balcony.  We joined in for a while but our stomachs were getting our attention and went looking for a decent restaurant.
